Basic commands available via /msg:

For help on a command, /msg Nadia help <command>
where <command> is the command listed below without the '<>'

Note: in IRC both '<>' and '[]' are variable markers where you input data, so when typing commands ignore them.

FAQ:

All users:
Ident (for when the bot doesn't recognize you):

/MSG Nadia IDENT <password> [handle]
This lets the bot recognize you from a new address. You don't need to specify a handle if your handle is the same as your nickname on IRC.

Info (setting your infoline):

/MSG Nadia INFO <password> [channel] [info line]
Whatever you set as your info line will be usually be displayed when you join a channel, as long as you haven't been there in the past three minutes. It's also shown when a WHO or WHOIS. You may set an info line specific to a channel. If no channel-specific info line exists for a channel, your global info line will be displayed.

/MSG Nadia INFO <password> [channel] NONE
This erases your info line.

Pass (setting your password or changing it):

/MSG Nadia PASS <password>
This sets a password for your handle. You need a password to use most commands and/or chat the bot.

/MSG Nadia PASS <oldpass> <newpass>
Allows you to change your password.

Voice (obtaining +v):

/MSG Nadia VOICE <password> [channel]
Voices you on any channel where I have ops and you don't have voice. If a channel name is specified, you will only be voiced on that channel.

Who (list of users on channel):

/MSG Nadia WHO <channel>
This will show you a list of who is on the specified channel right now, and each persons infoline (if they have one).

Whois (getting info on users):

/MSG Nadia WHOIS <handle>
Shows information about the specified handle. (Basically a 'getinfo')

Partyline (the main area where you configure Nadia):

/ctcp Nadia chat
Sends a 'ctcp' request to Nadia to get on the partyline. Normally you'd want to use this one if you're behind a firewall.

/dcc chat Nadia
Starts a direct chat to Nadia.
See this for more information.

Addhost (advanced command):

/MSG Nadia ADDHOST <password> <hostmask>
This lets the bot recognize you from a new hostmask. The hostmask specified must not match the hostmask of another user. Note: this function may be disabled and is only recommend for advanced users. If you are having problems, try ident.

Seen (how to look for someone who was on IRC):

/MSG Nadia seen <nick>
In public channel: seen <nick>
Querys Nadia to see if it's seen the nick while Nadia was around. Returns when they were last there, what hostmask they were under, and what they said.

Note: both '?' and '*' are considered wildcards and are not allowed.
Therefore when seeing for someone, use:
seen <nick>
instead of:
seen <nick>?

Channel operator commands:
OP (obtaining ops):

/MSG Nadia OP <password> [channel]
Ops you on any channel where I have ops and you don't. If a channel name is specified, you will only be opped on that channel.

Invite (for when the channel is invite only):

/MSG Nadia INVITE <password> <channel>
This will invite you to a channel (if the bot is on the specified channel).
Note: This command can be used when you're just too lazy to find out the key, like a lot of people. ;)

Go (getting the bot to cycle):

/MSG Nadia GO <channel>
This makes the bot leave a channel if not currently opped.

Key (getting a key for a channel):

/MSG Nadia KEY <password> <channel>
This will send you the key for a channel that is +k and possibly also invite you to that channel if it is +i (if the bot is on the specified channel.)

All users:
Help help! Nadia won't respond!

Alright, alright, calm down. Nothing to get too worked up about. :)
The reason for this is probably because you've changed computers or your hostmask has changed. It usually should be pretty easy to fix if you follow these steps:

  • 1.) Try /MSG Nadia help and see if she responds
  • 2.) If not, try ident /MSG Nadia IDENT <password> [handle]
  • 3.) Try talking to people in the channel and see if they can offer any advice.
  • 4.) If all else fails and you can't get her to respond, please fill out this form and a bot master will try to respond as soon as possible.
