Racing Technique To get the best times out of a track, and a car, a few general principals must be observed. First and foremost, you will never get a good time in an automatic, compared to those who drive manuals. Being able to select gears at the right time for the right reasons makes a world of difference. (This applies both in real life, and in Redline. Fully automatic transmission performance cars are a joke.) Next, make use of the full throttle key. It allows you the fastest start under most conditions, and the start is an important thing. The fastest way around the track will be without ever leaving the tarmac, without sliding at all, and accelerating through all the turns. To coax every inch of performance out of your car is ideal. Put the car in Neutral, floor it. You will see where the RPM gauge maxes out. Now, when you drive the car, don't shift until then or just slightly before then. This will perhaps give you that precious second. The racing line is the fastest way around a track. The racing line is generally charcterized by creating the largest diameter turn possible within the confines of a track.
