MacGamer.net - Redline - Driving Tips - Cornering
Cornering
Going down a straight is all very good and fun and anybody can do it quickly. However, what about the corners? Yes, how about them... They are the part that usually munch people, and will slow you down the most if you don't know how to handle them. Cornering is really the most complicated part of driving in any situation, either digital or real. Therefore learning how to corner properly is something that will assist you greatly in winning races, and simply enjoying your time racing (this is discussed in the game documentation too).
  • When you sight a corner, go to the outside edge. That is the edge furthest from the turn.
  • As you approach a corner, brake at the last possible second reasonable. Brake so that the instant the corner begins, you are going slow enough to be ready to start accelerating again.
  • Turn in so that at the midpoint of the turn, your wheel just touches the inside of the turn, and when you exit the turn, your other side wheel just touches the outside of the exit.
  • Accelerate through the entire turn, on the exit you may get a slight drift and a slingshot effect, this is desired, if you get this, you have done it right.
