Racing Modes Most racing games leave you with the feeling that the authors have never dropped the clutch in a car more exciting than a Neon, and failed 9th grade physics to boot. Not so with Redline; the physics engine presents remarkable realism and control, even when using the keyboard to control your car as it screams across the pavement. Try that in a Neon! In addition to Redline's physics engine, the remarkable 3D engine presents a visual feast of polygons flying past at 200mph+ as you barrel down the race track. Simulation mode: Simulation Mode tries to resemble real-life car physics as close as possible. Different cars may handle completely different depending on their mass distribution, drivetrain setup, and many other factors. A full section is dedicated to detailing the best techniques for racing in simulation mode. It is available here. Arcade mode: Arcade Mode emphasizes on playability and easy handling of cars, but is vastly inaccurate in computer to real-life physics. Different cars handle quite similar and differ only in their acceleration and top speed characteristics. (ie, a Diablo and a DeLorean will handle the same, but the Diablo will go much faster.) Nothing specific can be said about this mode, it's pretty easy and requires no tips. Turbo Arcade mode: Just what it says. Similar to Arcade mode, just with even less realistic physics. Most cars are considerably faster in this mode. |
