The DeLorean is the car you pick if you want to have no chance of winning a race. Its not that it handles all that badly, its simply slow. Remember in the first Back to the Future movie where it took Marty McFly the better part of the Back to the Future theme song to get up to 88MPH? This car really does take that long to get up to speed, it's that slow.
The DeLorean is actually pretty good at taking turns, it neatly slips around even tight turns, unfortunately even if you make every turn perfectly you'll still be way behind people who choose faster cars.
The bottom line on the DeLorean is that it's the first car you get for a reason, choose something better.
