GooBall has love, spunk, graphics edge and avant-garde music. Get ready for dynamic gameplay madness and more excitement than you asked for.
The GooBall game is deceptively simple, yet ever so hard to master completely.
Navigate the Goober embedded in the GooBall through 60 breathtakingly levels in 6 game worlds, across 11 chapters, while trying not to fall off the track. The goal is always the goal, variously disguised as wooden gates, Aztec statues, or monster-mouths.
When you first play a chapter it gets unlocked so you can always skip back to it, instead of starting all over, but remember you'll get the most points if you play the easy and the hard levels, not just the hard ones.
Tilt the level with the arrow key to get the GooBall rolling, and do jumps to cross chasms and get up on platforms.
Pressing command/apple makes the GooBall become sticky to brake really fast (but not instantly, mind you). It can then crawl on surfaces, even vertically and around corners. But beware! You lose the grip and fall off of the underside of things.
If you jump in sticky mode, you jump away from the surface. In case you aren't sure where, wait a fraction of a second and the Goober will look in the direction it will jump. Still not sure? Wait another two seconds, and the camera will align with the jump so you can really see where you're going. In rolling mode, jumping just makes the ball do a skip-jump (but beware, these can be quite muscular when rolling fast).
Be fast and don't run out of time. Pick up 10 gems for an extra life. Fall out or run out of time to lose one life. That's all it amounts to. Oh, and don't run out of lives or you might have to enter your name into the hall-of-fame. Sorry :)
On some levels you need to pick up the translucent green alien-heads for the goal to get activated... notice the glowing effect: if that's not on there's an alien-head left somewhere. When you enter the goal, you'll drop right through. That anti-climax will hurt.
• WASD, IJKL and the arrow keys work the same.
• Holding the command/apple-key makes the GooBall sticky.
• Pressing space or enter makes the GooBall jump.
In the beginning is the Adventure and just the Adventure. You can always embark on that, and it's exciting. Then when you game-over, you can always go back and Practice a level. In fact, when you game-over you are invited into practice mode. Nothing much in that offer since you can always practice anyway, but we thought you might enjoy going head-to-head with that killer level.
When you have completed half the game, a new game mode unlocks: The Travel mode. In travel mode the ball super-goos so you don't have to worry about not sticking on the underside of things anymore.
When you have completed the whole game, another game mode unlocks: Hard Core. That's crazy! Play the game at 150% speed with extra tilting. That'll make GooBall feel just as hard as it was when you were a complete rookie. Mmmm, sweet memories :)
Regards from the development team at OverTheEdge. We hope you'll have as much fun playing GooBall as we had creating it. Thanks for the ride guys. And keep an eye out for future releases.
