About the Forums
The MacGamer.net forums are no longer around. They have been deleted due to exploits and bugs that have been found over the years. The Invision board company charges money for newer versions after 2, at a great cost that MacGamer.net cannot currently afford.

The version of Invision board that was being used was version 1.2. It was setup long before Invision board started charging for money for their software (at version 2.0 I think). They had said at one point that Invision forum would be free forever, but this changed a few years later. At first they only required a copyright at the bottom of the page, then at version 2.0 they imposed a lifetime "free trial". Then after that they started charging and not offering lifetime free trials anymore and simultaneously removed the lifetime free trial version one day. All users who used the free trial no longer received security updates.

For now, there is no real point in continuing this forum at the moment due to security risks. If I ever find some forum software other then phpBB and Invision board that is stable and secure I might migrate to that. I would need a migration utility to move the Invision mysql data over to the new forum however. The forum data its self is not deleted, only the pages that access it. There is still a remote chance that the forums will be restored at some point.
